surf perch

Does anybody have any info on surf fishing for perch in Northern California. It sounds like fun I just have no idea where to start.

Be ALWAYS alert to the waves!!!
The rest is pretty much just fishing....read the water and toss stuff that looks like what you see for food in the water. Things orangy and grey for mole crabs, clousery type stuff for baby fish looking stuff, motor oil colored stuff for worm immis. Surfperch do not have the "opportunity" generally to inspect your bug (or their food) for long, so they are usually pretty opportunistic.
Reading water and STAYING in contact with your bug will serve you most.

I assume that you will be fishing in Houmbolt or Del Notre countys.
Just about anywhere you can get to the beach along 101 is a good place to fish.

It should start almost anyday and last most of the summer.

There are some good spots to fish along the north jetty of Houmblot bay and out on the Samoa Spit. Just ask any of the baite shops in Eureka.

Trenadad Head is another good spot not far from the 299 101 junction.

I hear snappers can be had off the jetties very early and very late in the day with poppers. THAT is STILL a "gotta do one of these days thing" too!
