You should check out Rene Sehr excellent site in the Netherlands. http://www.bassflies.nl/[/url:91ac5] for what works in your local waters.

Or on this site there is a superb archive of patterns at http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/fotw2/archive.html[/url:91ac5]
The ones with the asterisk by them are salty flies.

df,
We tie and use a LOT of deceivers in the salt. They get concocted from about 1.2" to about 12" in length and mostly white/white with plenty flash and silver. The size used is mostly dictated by what your target species is eating at the time with about 2" to 4" being quite common.
If'n they don't seem productive, it may be useful to have some shrimpy, some crabbie, and some squiddie type bugs to toss too.
This site has got a lot of'em to choose from with tying instructions too.

Dutch FF,
May I suggest two patterns, a Deceiver and a Clouser. I believe you can get recipes by selecting fly-tying and the archives on the left hand menu. Lefty's Deceiver and Bob Clouser's Minnow are so universal that they work almost anywhere I have fished. There are many other good flies, but these are two of the most universal I know. They are also easy to tie, which matters a great deal to me as I am one of the worst tiers you have ever run across.

In addition to the above cited fly fishing recipies , I would also suggest several additional websites ; ArtsnFlies for a variety of which flys work in saltwaters here in the States

for recipies: Salty Flyrodders << http://www.saltyflyrodders.org/[/url:e2e47] >>

Joe Branham's Saltwater Fly Tying << www.branhamssaltwaterflytying.com/[/url:e2e47] >>

I hope this helps.
