Tie up some Gartside Gurglers. Easy to tie and an effective top water fly.

Gurglers are great I also like bangers.

Only spent a few days fishing around Cape May when I was there for a wedding last June. So I did not get to really explore, just turned up at some likely looking spots.

Higbee Beach (West Cape) at the end of New England Road, near the mouth of the canal yielded a few stripers. Also under the bridge on the 621 near Thorofare Island looked really good, although I only got to spend a few hours here and blanked. All the inland waterways around Jarvis sound looked REALLY fishy, although I think you'll need a yak to really explore them.

In two weeks I'll be in Cape May. Offshore fishing for tuna with my brother, but surf fly fishing as well.
Almost everyone uses live bait on a long surf rod!!! LOL And I always catch ten times as many with my fly rod. Clousers, and any streamer will outfish the bait boys every time.
The live clam guys only catch skates and sharks. We long rodders catch the stripers, blues, weaks, herring, and flounder...... ya, flounder, so many with a small bottom bouncing clouser.

    catch & release
