Thread: Back in the salt

    Default Back in the salt

We're back after three weeks on the road.

We were fortunate to schedule time to fish the Battenkill during a break in the rains.

Vermont was wonderful even if it was as hot as Florida. So was MA, NH, NY, PA, and Niagara Falls ON.

Gloria learned the use of the long rod and caught her first trout on a fly. Luckily I managed a brookie too.

Not only can she handle the long rod, she's a good fly caster too.

What Micus said... GGGRRRRR. You passed by and did not even take us up on our northern hospitality. I guess we'll have to drink your share of the rum without you.

Gentlemen, or gentlemen rankers, you can best decide which label fits; we'd have been delighted to look up all of you who lived near our route and the various stops. However, the trip included a wedding, our 12th anniversary celebration, and some other family obligations that shortened the time we had available to do anything beyond the scheduled fishing portion and the driving necessary to get to our scheduled stops in a timely manner.

Indeed, it was a masterful piece of route planning, navigation, and driving on my part which not only allowed us to dodge the outflow from hurricanes, avoid flooding, and travel the scenic route most of the time, but still arrive home in time to pick up our mail before the Post Office closed on the 12th.

I'm sorry we missed meeting many friends who've offered advice and fishing guidance. Next trip, we'll build in time. Gloria's now a committed fly fisher.
    What a great trip!

Some excuse. We would have come to the wedding and helped drink the rum. Right Dave, EPO etc. Heck we could have gotten the bottles of Tequilla and taken the worms from the bottom . We would have had enough worms to fish all week long.

Aach! You'd fish with bait? I'd fish with grenades before using alcohol soaked worms. I only care about catching fish without impaired liver functions.
