    Default New Jersey Striped Bass

In a few short week I will be travaling to Seaside Heights NJ, i have gone for two or three summers now and have finally gotten smart eneough to bring my fly gear! But, because i have never fished these waters i dont have any clue as to what i should throw into the water...a flie obviously. But what kind?? what color?? what size?? Usually I go swimming with my cousins in the ocean there and we always see Stripped Bass swimming around our feet. This led me to finally want to catch some of them. If anyone has any advise at all, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam.

Deceivers, clousers, Ray's flies. Check out Stripersurf.com--they cover the Jersey area. Also see if you can find a post by budwudla and email him--he's the Jersey expert on the board! good luck!

Just what the pro from Dover said. You may want to add a peanut bunker immation to you box as well. Remember to bring some steel leader with you, at this time of year you could end up in a blue fish blitz. With out the leader your out of the game.

As for color start with Chart. and white, then try everything else LOL.

There are still some large fish around. If your fishing from the jetties, don't be shy about using 20# florocarbon leader. They will put you in the rocks. If you can "TAKE THE FISH TO THE BEACH". Let him fight hard out far, when he tires steer him slowly down the side of the jetty to you can jump down on the sand.

    Have a great time.
