I'd say your about 2 hours away? I usually fish chittenango creek and just moving here I'd like to try oneida lake this summer. My wife has relatives in Rockdale Center' which I think is about 45 min from you. Ever fish the susquahanna(Spelling)?

Yes have fished the river here for 35yrs but not by Fly.
They stock some of the creeks here with Trout and I fish a few ponds for Bass and Panfish by fly.
Sometime I'd like to try the river with a Fly and see what happens.
Most of my Best Trout fishing is around Deposit up to Roscoe area.

I only started fly fishing last summer but I live down in Ithaca. Feel free to email me to arrange some fishing time if you like.

I'm just about as far as I can get from you in the Lower 48, but my Godfather just moved up there. His girlfriend sent me a Horrocks-Ibbotson rod from Utica.

Diane, I may just do that, and Battenkill_Jim, your not TOO far away for some weeked fishing. I do many kinds of fishing, Mostly trout with a few lightweight rods, just wanting to try my hand at Flyfishing as I got a shakesphere rod/reel used for $20. LOL, I know, Its not the best rod but for $20 I thought that a good price to introduce myself to the sport. All are welcome up my way too for fishing as I have had luck at numerous spots. Im new to NY and always did Catfishing in Ohio off the Ohio River and ponds, But Im growing addicted to trout fishing. I tried Ice fishing, and well........it's just too damn cold. > >

    Vin
Channel Cats in the "Sus" river are fun.
Chicken Livers are the bait of choice!
Carp range in 5lb-10lb range and might be fun on the Fly.
Some BIG bass in local ponds that are very fun to get on the Fly.
Black Crappy are a real hoot on the Fly as well!
Certain places have some large Sun Fish also.
Fun with the Fly Rod is all around ya!!

    Vinlandfrost,

I'm kind of in the area. I'm guessing 100 miles away. You may be interested in a venture to the Catskills where a lot of us are meeting for a 'Fish-In' at the end of May. Take a look on the left. Click on Fish-Ins, then click on Roscoe, NY 2005. Lots of information about it.
