    Default New England Guys.

Supposedly around the LI sound area flounder are starting up. Now normally I would just use a regular rod and weight and use a shiner, but I was curious do any of you know of a good pattern for flounder/fluke? And how would I get it to the bottom, if at all possible? Thank guys!

A deciever or multiple decievers and either a sink tip or full sinking line.

I've caught flounder on a clouser, chartreuse and white. That was summer time and they were at the shore's edge. I might try that with a sinking line. You will have a hard time trying to stay on the bottom with a sinking line in any depth of water.

Unfortunately winter flounder are a rarity in L.I. sound nowadays. I would think catching one w/o bait even more so. On a fly ..unheard of.
Summer flounder (fluke) are another story.
In late summer and fall when the peanut bunker are near shore the fluke will follow them in and be right in the wash. With a clouser cast from shore you will do better than a bait fisherman drifting in deep water.
The simpler the outfit, the more skill it takes to manage it, and the more pleasure one gets in his achievements.
