Why do I grow stupid looking plants, like 'Voodoo lillys'?

The same reason I grow thorny cactus and succulents instead of pretty, long-lasting flowers that are easy for anyone to grow?
    ;~)
I'm much more excited about getting one flower like this that lasts only 16 hours and happens only once a year than growing buckets of geraniums, pertunias, and other 'easy' flowers that bloom all year. It's an Echinopsis Chamaecerius, AKA 'peanut cactus.'

So you and LF can step out of your door in the morning, look at the garden and marvel at the wonder of it all.

Its sort of the same reason we go fishing.

Nice plant! I like nice & different plants, but if I plant 'em, they're goners. Absolutely NO green thumb on this Irishman! I envy those of you able to nurture a plant. However, I have had highly successful patches of dandelions & crabgrass! Do those count?

    Mike,
I have a green thumb, actually two of them... on my wife's hands. She tells me what to do and where if she needs help and I do it. They payoff is worth it.
