Thread: Golden Rule

    Default Golden Rule

    "It's the Process, not the Product"

    To get the most out of fly fishing, it's most important to enjoy the process of fishing, the environment of fly fishing they hang out at the most beautiful places), and the hope of catching a really nice trout. The fact that you often don't should not take away from the experience.

    Once this lesson is learned, fishing will always be enjoyable.

    Default Good Advice

    Especially when you've had a less than productive day on the *****... River. But once in a while it's also nice to have it all-great view, great weather and great fish.

    Default Golden Rule - Subparagraph 1

    During life, we take our automobiles to the mechanic, children to worship service, and spouse on a shopping trip. Hence, the fishing experience is created for balance of a person's soul to become one with nature.

    I can't agree with you more, BigCasino. A buddy of mine only enjoys fishing if he catches fish on every other cast.. he never stops to take in the scenery or the quiet.. if he's not catching fish to him it's wasted time. To me, a day out of the city, away from the traffic and bustle is more than enough compensation.. if I catch fish while I'm at it, that's just a bonus!

    Default Waxing...

    A long time ago it was about numbers of and big trout, nowadays it's about how, where and with whom. Some fishers find it hard to believe when I say I don't mind not catching something. While I'm saying that I'm smiling, thinking of countless trips astream and an awful lot of nice fish, or no fish and also what I really 'caught'. The reasons and rewards are many and if I fool one trout after hours of happy effort my day is doubly complete. If I don't catch something to release, I just smile and think of tomorrow. Or yesterday.

    Cheers,

    BigCasino;
    This next week I'll be heading up to Michigan's Manistee River with some good friends to celebrate my birthday and do some fly fishing. I'd like to catch something but....!
    I'm taking them to a new campground and I know they will love it and there will be many returns. My birthday dinner will be grilled pork chops, dressing, mashed potatoes, fresh sweet corn and a suprise dessert! I guess I'm going to catch a lot on my 67th, maybe not fish, but a great time for sure shared with my friends!!
