Default a good argument for wearing eye protection

Haskell from the Orvis store in Dallas shared this with the folks on Texas Fly Report. Makes one more prone to wear something over the eyes while fishing.

I am fortunate that did not happen to me. Had a heavy splitshot and fly spang off my prescription glasses this spring, then spin around and hit my cheekbone. It gave me a great shiner, and a sty in the corner of my eye that still lingers 2 months later! Had I not worn glasses, I'd be able to awe my nieces and nephews with my removable glass eye.

I would like to observe (no pun intended) that this is another good reason to use barbless hooks.

And don't forget a hat. I beaned myself yesterday with a 3/0 clouser and was greatful for the hat. My fishing buddy heard the noise of the hit over the sound of the motor.
