For a variety of reasons, I had not done any fly fishing for 21 years. I just moved to New England and decided that I wanted to take up the sport once again. I found a very reliable fly fishing store and bought the things I needed for my first time back on the water. What I really coudn't find was some detailed information on where to fish in my area. After searching the internet I located a fly fishing guide service and dropped them an e-mail. I ended up spending 14 hours that wonderful day getting tips on where to fish, how to improve my casting technique, and selecting the right fly (and catch fish!). It has to have been the best money I have ever spent. I was self taught, as it seems many people are, and getting fishing lessons while wading some beautiful streams and rivers was a dream come true.
