    Default Kangaroo for fly tying

I was given a tanned kangaroo hide today. I have some ideas for using it but was wondering if any from down under or elsewhere knew of some fly patterns that called for kangaroo.

The underfur makes excellent dubbing for scuds. Look up Roo's as a scud pattern and you'll see what I mean. Also, I find that the tail fur is nice and stiff and makes excellent tailing material.

I have had a kangaroo hide for 10 years but never found a pattern that was originallt tied with Kangaroo hair. I will keep my eyes on this post.

    Roy,

I read somewhere that it is great for hopper patterns..
Not so not so... it is actually the perfect material for upside-down patterns.

Sheesh... and I have to tell you, YOU, of all people...

    Cheers,
    Hans W
