I think you've got the wings down pat. Nice looking fly. What kind of floss are you using for the body?

The orange stuff is unknown single strand, but it's properties felt different than the brown on the front, it didn't feel as soft or limber as the front floss on the fly which was Danville's 4 strand, of course I only used the one strand of brown on the fly.

Thanks Ron, no Brad, I fish the the inner city rivers for most of the spring and most of the fall when the other seasons are not yet open or have since closed.

Only fished the Humber as a kid when I lived in Steady brook, of course it wasn't legal, but I was young (11) and laws didn't mean much then, .

I have tied 6 of these spey wing flies to date, and this was the last one and by far the best wing. I didn't have any of those Partridge hooks left, so I just tied this one on a huge streamer hook. The floss work is alittle rough and a bit hurried, but the wing, other than being a little low set, is actually the tent style.

Hi Newfoundlander,

Those are very nice looking flies! Do you intend on fishing them? I would think a Spey version of a Blue Charm or Cosseboom might do quite well.

Coming from Nova Scotia myself, I've tied both in smaller sizes (size 10 2x shank hooks) and have had luck on lake based rainbows with them here in New Zealand. However, I've not done them Spey style, though I may give it a go.

Anyway, just wanted to say I really like the look of your ties.

I would certainly fish 'em if I get the chance, only on some of the larger rivers though.
The river I fish locally is too small I think for such big flies, they only like 'em usually in a size 8, 10 and smaller of course.
