    Default Green Drake

I am starting to tie up some Green Drakes and the recipe calls for porcupine quills. Does anybody know a source or a substitute. Sure don't want to go off in the woods chasing porcupines.

Depends how traditional you are. I tie mine with extended foam bodies.

    Northwoods,

I've tied extended bodied flies with porky quills. You can use them for any of the larger mayflies. If done properly you can get a nice body and lightweight fly by using shortshank hooks. Anyway, I've plenty of quills and will mail you a bunch if you drop me an email with your mailing address.

Here's a link to a Coffin Fly tied with porky quill.
