My guess would be that as the Fleximent dries it is shrinking and causing the feather to curl.

My recommendation would be to stop coating the pheasant tail prior to using them but it is really hard to give you options b/c your post does not explain why your are treating the pheasant tails in the first place.

    FcF,

    Try this.

Lay the feathers flat onto some wax paper.

Coat with the flexible coating of choice, I use a brush and try to get the stuff to penetrate first, then finish by carefully brushing the feather into the proper alignment. Leave the feather on the wax paper until it dries.

Peel the coated feather from the wax paper.

    Should stay flat for you.

    Good Luck!

    Buddy

Thanks Buddy, I am coating the pheasant feathers with flex cement and using them as wing cases on a hex nymph.
