any links to jungle cock eyes--trying to tye the Jassid--a classic New Englad pattern
The jassid was developed by Vince Marinaro, a Pennsylvanian. He was a brillaint, but irrascable fellow, and I had the privilege to fish with him a few times as a teenager and college student. He would have been furious that you thought his fly was from New England! You can read all about it in "A Modern Dry Fly Code" his angling classic, now in paperback. Jungle cock has become way more expensive than it was in Vince's day. You can find the necks on ebay, or in some flyshops, but prices are often in excess of $100, though you can tie a pretty large number of jassids from one neck. It is a great fly. Do a google search; there are several sites that have tying instructions.
I just discovered the Jassid was a FOTW on this site, complete with a picture of Vince! As always, FAOL is on the ball!
dmdmd,
You've gotta be yankin some chain.

Leigh522--Many thanks--it came up as a New England pattern on an old list that was given to me by the person who taught me to flyfish--no insult intended--I did find the pattern on FAOL--thanks for your help--I realize that jungle cock is rare and expensive--any alternatives?
You could always look for a shop that sells the prepackaged packs of sized jungle cock eyes. I believe that i saw them in an old Cabela's catalog, 2004 maybe ?? There are a few shops around who stock the pre-sized stuff ( not me tho' )
