Dry Fly Success

Last year was such a fun year on the dry flies, I didn't do much nymphing at all, except in April and early May.
My boxes are all filling up with yellow mayflies, humpys, cranes, bugs/bombers, Wally wing mays, and wally wing irresistibles.

After last year I'm on a dry fly kick, all size 10 and up, .
As of late the bigger dry flies have been producing the bigger fish, even early in the season. It seems the joy of a rise is as much fun as a strike, , ahhhh, this game only gets better with age, .

Peter, by God, your right Sir, I have no Parachutes, except for the couple that Bob Erickson just sent me, . I'd like to copy 'em but they are size 14 and to me thats just small nerve shattering work, I could I suppose but I'm not great with small flies, would a size 10 parachute catch a Brookie, ? Bob ties beautiful small flies, I s'pose I could take a lesson from him and force myself to tie some small flies, .

Yes Jeremy, you can but it's not as much fun or to me at least, .

Hurry up man, get yourself to the vise and get some of those parachutes tied up. If a 6 inch brookie will take a 2 inch streamer then i can't see why any self respecting brookie wouldn't take a # 10 parachute. Cripes, the no-see-ums are at least that big on the Rock

Try a few out while salmon fishing as well, i know a few people who tie up large klinkhamers and are pretty successful with them.

So true, lol, I have caught 6 inch brookies with 4 inch shrews in their guts.
I don't think any fish has a more varied diet than a northern brookie, .

Yeah I may tie some chutes, I'm not a fan of the process though tying of the hackle neatly is a bit of a chore, .

Mike: You might want to try the Stimulator.As one who also lives in Newfoundland I have found this pattern the best for trout the last few years.As a bonus it floats like a cork......Frank
