    Default PowerPro

So I'm looking at PowerPro for backing since it has been suggested here a few times. I see on their website a product called PowerPro Superline (goes for about $15/150 yds of 40#).

Am I looking at the right stuff and how does it compare in diameter to gel-spun (like Orvis Hi-capacity or Micronite)? I'm looking for higher capacity to allow me to downsize the reel.

    Always appreciate the input. Randy

    Randy,

Power Pro is a gel spun polyethelene line.

It has a bit larger diameter than some others. They've added something to it or braided it in such a way to keep it more round in crossection. This is 'supposed' to help prevent dig ins or other spooling problems. It does lessen the amount you can get onto the spool, however.

Lots of conventional tackle bass guys love it. Should make fine fly line backing.

    Good Luck!

    Buddy

    It Just Doesn't Matter....
