Thread: online materials resource?

Default online materials resource?

Hi
I am relatively new to the US. I do flyfishing since 1997, and Iused to tie my oen flies back home (Romania, Europe). Here in The US I don't have a local flyshop, so I need a good resource for buying materials online (I guess it comes cheaper than buying in a flyshop, right?). So... what online store would you recommend? The only one that I know is Cabelas and Hook&Hackle (from H&H I got my Loomis IMX blank that I will build soon). Anyway, besides this two, is there any good source?
Let me rephrase: Which is the best source of flytying materials

on the FAOL sponsors page you will find Wolf Mountain Fly and Tackle, Hook & Hackle, and Kaufmann's Streamborne. I think there might be one or two other fly tying suppliers there as well. Have fun.

I've bought from Bear Lodge fairly recently,And the prices seem pretty decent on several materials...for what it's worth..

There is also Huntersangling/Stoneriver outfitters as well as:

I'd I can personally recommend either Stoneriver Outfitters (formerly Hunter's) and Hook N Hackle. They both offer outstanding service and both are really fine people to deal with. Do yourself a favor and get on Stoneriver's web site and request a copy of their catalog to be sent to you. It's a beautiful catalog and has some great pictures in it too that I often find more helpful than looking at a picture on a computer monitor (but I guess I might just be old-fashioned that way). Chances are if you can't find what you're looking for at one of these places, you're not going to find it anywhere. Hope this helps.

"If we carry purism to it's logical conclusion, to do it right you'd have to live naked in a cave, hit your trout on the head with rocks, and eat them raw. But, so as not to violate another essential element of the fly-fishing tradition, the rocks would have to be quarried in England and cost $300 each."

Feather Craft http://www.feather-craft.com/[/url:c67be] and The Fly Shop http://www.flyshop.com/[/url:c67be] are good ones, too. Can't go wrong with any of the others listed, either. E-Bay can be a great source, too.

I'll second the Flytyers Dugeon. Great prices! Great service! Fast shipping! Have ordered from him three times and have just about everything and in every color he has. Some stuff is great quality and some is not as good as other brands. But, for the prices I really don't think you can go wrong. And yes I support my local fly shops too.
