    Default letting it hang

Often I will begin to tie a fly, and either become frustrated, bored, etc... and just let it be. My question, will the thread grow weaker if it hangs on the hook for hours, or days?
    - Thanks, David

    Hey Flytyer,

IMHO if you leave a fly in your vise
long enough for the thread to start to fail,
you should consider changing your board
name.*G* As a youth, I've had small model
airplanes hang from my ceiling for over a
year without the thread failing. Warm
    regards, Jim

I do that all the time and haven't seen any problems. Not that I know of at least!

Nope- It does not hurt the thread at all as far as I can tell. I use to tie full dress Salmon flies and at times would leave them in the vise for weeks without touching them and the thread would just hang there to. So nope I think you will be fine. ROn

I would not worry about the thread, though I wonder if holding a hook in the vise jaws for such a prolonged period is wise.
What type of vise jaw is it?
    Are you damaging the jaws?
