Hello all! What is the best position to put split shot on the leader of an un-weighted streamer to get the most natural motion when stripping; all the way down to the eye of the hook or up the tippet/leader 6?-8?? I have a size 10 Muddler that is un-weighted, no bead head or tied with lead wraps. By itself it does not seem it would be heavy enough to sink through the water column to get to fish, however adding split-shot will get it down, but then I was thinking if I added it on the tippet/leader down next to the eye of the hook, would it make the fly look ?un-natural? to the fish or if I added it up the leader 6?-8?, would it give the fly un-natural action when stripped due to the slack between the fly and the split shot. Thanks in advance for helping me figure this out and any advice you can give! TK
