    Default Red Swiss straw

One of the bows on a gift my girlfreind got in the mail yesterday was made from some Red, Olive Greenish and Tan Swiss straw or Swiss straw like material. I have already tried it and the colors do not run in water and the material stays strong in water. The bow has already been put in with my other tying materials. While the Olive and Tan will find their way into flies quickly I am sure. Has anyone ever used Red Swiss straw on on flies that worked to catch fish before? I still plan to keep it even if no one has. If nothing else to see if it can be made into Brown or black sometime.

Red Swiss Straw makes an excellent shellback for crayfish flies.

But, so as not to violate another essential element of the fly-fishing tradition, the rocks would have to be quarried in England and cost $300 each."

    Hi hikepat,

It makes good wing cases on nymphs. I especially like it on red Copper Johns. Take care & ...
