substitute for micro poly eyes

Hi Folks,
When shopping this season, I noticed that some price tags are attached to items with a poly chain similar to bead chain. These poly chains can be used for eyes in smaller size (micro)nymph patterns. Just cut them off in pairs of two as you would the bead chain. They can be colored using permanent magic markers. Have fun...it is always nice to discover something sort of free and another use for items that come to us as a non flytying item.

Thanks for the tip. I usually keep an eye out for all sorts of "stuff" that I can use for fly tying, but I'd seen the material you're referring to 1000 times and I never thought of that. Great idea.

Good thought Gerri. It made me recall that we used to use the same general type product called "wire ties" that were like miniature versions of the "ties" you see police using as a substitute for handcuffs only in the form of a series of tiny spheres. These little guys were for neatly bundling bunches of electronic wiring. A source would be an electronic supply house. Also, being nylon, they take stain coloring very well.
