Most of my tubes, for "Tube Flies" are between 1/8 inch - to - 1/4 inch, in diameter. It all depends on the size of the hooks eye. I mainly use plastic tubing, and metal tubing.

I suppose fiberglass would work, but I wonder about the brittleness of the tubing when cutting to length and also it they would hold up to repeated fish strikes.
