Thread: Does a guide supply waders?

Default Does a guide supply waders?

Does a guide supply waders? I doubt they would, but I might as well ask. My boss wants to try fly fishing without the investment in the equipment. I've never used a guide, so I couldn't answer this question for him.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Jeff...

I dont know about anywhere else... but..

I have seen a few fly shops in Missouri that rents them.. but there are the fly shop that guides also... its worth asking for sure..

also I do believe some guides when you hire them .. will supply waders for the clients...

I'd bet most do not - but there are a lot of fly shops that would be able to. I know the University of Calgary outdoor department rents waders, so maybe try your local University or College if they have any outdoor programs?

I doubt it to many sizes to fill.
Where does he want to go and what size does he wear?

Maybe he could try small-stream fly fishing where you dont really need to step into the water?

Try your local fly shop. These guys will either loan or rent anything he might need. This is done with the idea being he will love the sport and will come back to the place that treated him best.

I have one used pair of Bare waders that I loan and I'm about to order a smaller pair of waders that will fit women and kids. People often show up unprepared. I would think that any guide could come up with a loaner pair if given some advanced warning.

    ManisteeGuy,

A guide in my area has waders to loan so I suppose some others do as well. Not all guides provide the same level of service. Asking detailed questions such as "Do you have waders (rods, leaders, etc) to loan?", "Do I have to bring or buy flies or will they be provided?" and "Is lunch provided?" will prevent disappointment.

Yes, ... and just about anything a client would need and doesn't have or forgets.
