    Default zonkers

If you had some rabbit zonker strips in a bunch of colors and you were hoping to catch steelies and/or big browns this fall, what would you tie with them? Bear in mind that I've never used zonkers before and might need some explanations.

    Thanks!

    Diane,

Cutt Baits, recipe and instructions in the archeives. Olive wings seem to work the best. Designed for cutts, but work well on steel.

Bunny leeches, usually of the egg sucking variety. Black and purple, usually.

    SlumpBusters of the conehead variety.

Bulkley Samurai in Black, Purple and Orange.

Zonker strips open a huge door in fly tying for winter or summer steel. They make great streamer wings, can be palmered around the hook to make a hackle, leaving you a ton of options for tying.
