Cool Elk River stocked with thousands of cutthroat trout

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) ? Anglers are getting an opportunity to fish at a newly stocked river before packing up their fishing rods and tackle boxes for the season.*The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) announced crews recently stocked the Elk River with*more than 1,000 pounds of cutthroat trout.*According to the agency, approximately 2,500 fish were stocked on the Elk River in*two separate locations below Tims Ford Dam. *

The Elk River was Warren Patterson's main fishing hole, as well as Jack Hise's when he lived in Tennessee. It's a tailwater from Tim's Ford Reservoir. I was privileged to fish with them there several years ago and have been wanting to go back ever since. The Elk empties into the Tennessee River down in Alabama. The folks that make George Dickel are just around the corner, Jack Daniels not too far away.
