Default Tried Something New Last Night

I decided to tie up a few flies last night and thought it would be a good time to try something I had read about here on FAOL.

I was tying adams with the wings and hackle tied in at the hook bend and the tail at the hook eye. From what I can tell they seem a bit more front heavy, but I'm hoping the weight of the tippet at the tail will mitigate that.

Have any of you ever fished a fly tied like this? What did you think of it?

Thanks,
Tom L.

Thinking outside the square box can be very productive, here's an example: http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/fotw2/112204fotw.html[/url:aea65]

LF,

Thank you for the link! I had not read that story before. An excellent read and a great looking fly. I really appreciate it.

Hi Tom,

I often tie my flies that way and they work just fine. Deanna pointed you at a good one and you can also check out Jim Green's web site www.waterwisp.com[/url:97d0d] for some other ideas regarding backwards flies. Take care & ...

Roy Christie sent me a number of his very creative flies tied in the manner described, and he used NO VISE or tools of any kind in the tying. It was somewhat amazing.
