    Got out mid-week for a change. Cloudy, some drizzle/light rain early, but temps in the 50's-low 60's F.Only caught about a dozen fish, but 6 different species: Common Carp, Bowfin, Spotted Gar (a new species for me!), Largemouth Bass, Warmouth, and Green Sunfish. Missed some other fish, mostly bowfin that shook free.

    I'll bet the bowfin and gar were a lot of fun. Further south you will find the bowfin referred to as grindle and choupique.

    Yes, they really are a lot of fun! And you are right, I've heard them called both of those names in Arkansas, and I understand Louisiana also uses those names.
