I have heard that having a heat illness diminished you future ability to tolerant heat. I know years ago (1986) I changed jobs and went from doing fire protection inspections on industrial plant in north Mississippi and Alabama to working in the corporate offices of Holiday Inn, where I was in buildings with HVAC continually. Late the spring of 1987 when my Army National Guard unit started preparing for annual training I could not work in the heat nearly as well as I had in the past. I was actually in better physical condition as we had a corporate fitness center and I had start jogging 5+miles a day, at around 6 a.m.
Yes, this certainly seems to be the case...I haven't been able to tolerate heat nearly as well since getting heat stroke a time or two. But, I still have to go fishing...so I just suffer, and still try to enjoy it.
