Would someone or several someones, point me in the right direction for finding patterns. Thinking I am going to try fishing these this fall and next spring.

You might want to take a look at this web site. [url=http://www.flymph.com:2b6ed]www.flymph.com[/url:2b6ed] It's new and still evolving. Also you might consider joining the International Brotherhood of the Flymph. Lots of soft hackle nuts to get patterns from.

Try going to Google. Click on images, then type "soft hackle" in their search window. I did this and found over 500 entries. Have fun

The most useful book I know is Dave Hughes "Wet Flies". Any of Sylvester Nemes are excellent, you'll have noticed I'm a book fanatic. I have only given you American books as they'll be easier to obtain but there is quite a big amount of literature on them under the name 'North Country Spiders' in the UK.
If you drop me an e-mail I can give you more info.

CLYDE STYLE FLIES and their dressings, by John Reid, was just recently reissued. The original limited printing was in 1971, and since then the price to acquire a 1st Edition has soared in price.
The 2nd Edition, is identical to the 1st Edition, at a very reasonable price. A very nice book on the Clyde River Style of Soft Hackle (North Country Spiders) Flies.
Book has some lovely plates, showing the pattens in full color, in their actual sizes, along with lot of helpful tying tips.
~Parnelli
I normally don't like to post "what he said," but Dave Hughes "Wet Flies" IMHO is just that good. In addition to the standard patterns, I also tie a few flies of the partridge and organge style with different body types for warmwater if you're into that. I've done pretty well with red and peacock bodies with gold ribbing.
