The deer hair, being greyish in color, came much closer to what I was hoping for. Makes sense; grey + yellow = olive. The dubbing was from a piece of grey rabbit, which, like the deer, has a more olive cast to it.
Guess I could fish it as a green drake if I dropped down to a #10, or a Skwala, even though they’re more of a dirty motor oil color on the rivers I fish (the trout are even dumber than usual in early spring and don’t seem to mind the difference).

shoulder - pheasant rump dyed nq picric
head/collar - deer hair dyed nq picric
