i dont know about causing a spark in sales and new fishers. fly fishing movies, the ones only about fly fishing, are only interesting to fly fisher-people, for the most part.

its a lot like rock climbing movies if you dont know what you are seeing, its really hard to get excited about it. most people who dont rock climb, and/or fly fish, dont want to watch a movie about people doing things that dont interest them. its hard to see the difficulty involved without having experienced it yourself.

on the flip side, watching people haul in sharks from the bow of a boat in 15' seas is exciting wether youve done it or not. watching people ski downhill at over 50 mph, cruising downhill on a mt. bike in full "battle-gear", sky diving...these things excite folks because the general public hasnt experienced it for themselves, rather than in spite of the general public not experiencing it.

im not even sure this post makes sense, to you guys...but it does in my mind .
