Red eyed rainbow trout
What kind of rainbow trout has red eyes? I looked this up on the internet and found nothing, zero, and yet here is a trout I caught from a lake in the High Sierra. Clearly, it does have smallmouth bass type red eyes. Ever seen anything like this?
and yes, the eye on the other side looks the same.

He probably had too much to drink and his eyes are bloodshot now.
Probably some sort trauma. I fish live bait ever so often. The minnows, especially after they've been hit by something, will get that bright red coloration in the whites of their eyes. Here's a picture of a smallmouth and eyes are a much darker red.
