In the Summer issue of Fly Tyer there is an article about tying "Mad Toms". The mottled hen feathers being used look great. Are these from the low cost imports? Being forced to order by mail, where can is source them and how can I be assured of getting the mottled ones? Thanks in advance.

    Ray,

Have you thought about contacting Denny Conrad, of Conranch Hackle. Denny probably has what you need, and will be more than happy to hand select the hackle for you to make sure you get what you want.

If I need feathers, that's who I call.

Ron gave you good advice. I have several full hen skins from Denny and the natural colors and quality are incredible! The low cost imports do not even come close to [url=http://www.flyanglersonline.com/cgi-bin/clickcount.pl?url=http://www.conranch.com/:27c65]Conranch Hackle[/url:27c65].
