I started playing around with something a bit different for my summertime bass fishing. I subscribe to the theory that big flies catch big fish. It's a top-water snake pattern that should dive about 1 - 2 inches on the retrieve and rise back to the surface between line strips. It's seven inches long, tied with a Dragon Tail for the tail/body, black SemperFi hackle for the collar and a closed-cell foam popper head. I added a stinger hook attached with 20 lb. braided line for short strikes and Fly Lips to make it drop down an inch or two and wobble from side to side on the retrieve. This should give nice action to the 'body" of the snake. I added 3D eyes and a coat of UV epoxy to the head for durability. I'll tie up a few more in the next week or so and post any changes I make. I'm looking forward to using this in the late afternoon and at dusk, hoping to catch some nice LM bass.DT Snake FLy.JPG
