If you want to try a terrific product that is already pre-cut in the impressionistic shape of a pair of claws AND is available in lots of colors and three sizes; look for Kreel Klaws.

They have a small hole in them so all you have to do is slip them over the hook point and tie them down and you have INSTANT craw claws. They appear to be made of chamois or something like chamois but they stay soft and pliable. I use them along with Furry Foam, different chenille or Estaz, and lead eyes for a quick and simple craw that works great on smallies. Because they are so simple to tie I don?t despair too much if I lose a few fishing them low and slow in the river.

I got my Kreel Klaws from Cold Spring Anglers in Carlisle, PA:

As far as regular chamois goes; I had the best luck with thin chamois that I pre cut into a combo claws and over-back shape with a pattern I made from a 3 X 5 card. The best source of thin chamois I found is an eyeglass shop like Pearle Vision; they sell it to clean lenses. After cutting it to shape I colored it with permanent markers. But ever since I found Kreel Klaws I stopped bothering with chamois.
