A few changes to Michigan tyer Ralph Hanna?s 1960?s creation; subbed moose body hair for pheasant tail on the back end and calftail for deer hair on the wing. Downwing, clipped hackle could work for grey drake spinners on the Yellowstone in the Park, maybe.

Mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark




Clean, stack, measure (shank length) a clump of calftail; tie in/trim butts, cover with thread and wrap to bend








Clean, stack, measure (a little longer than the hook) a clump of moose body hair; tie in, wrap butts to wing butt junction, cover with thread






Clean, stack, measure (tips just past the bend) a clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in, allowing hair to surround the shank
