A vintage cutthroat pattern from Flies of the Northwest. Going to tie some of these in orange, too, because little blue line cutts are stupid for orange.

hook - Dai Riki 300 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - golden pheasant tippet
rib - x-small wire gold
body - floss scarlet
hackle - brown
underwing - deer hair
overwing - calftail white

Part 1

mash barb, start thread; tie in rib, wrap to bend

strip some tippet fibers, measure (gap width past bend); tie in/trim

tie in floss; create tapered body, tie off/trim (leave yourself about 2 eye widths at the front for the wing tie-in)

tie in hackle (use your good stuff if you want but with the questionable floating properties of the tail and body, you're just delaying the inevitable); palmer to the tail

rib thru hackle; helicopter end, cover with thread, trim hackle tip
