    Default Adolphs Meat Tenderizer SBS



    Adopted the color scheme from Mr. Lort's fly.


    hook - Maruto 2312 #6
    thread - UTC 70 burnt orange
    tail - guinea dyed orange (1Tbs Rit Sunshine orange, 1 cup water)
    abdomen - medium tinsel red holographic
    rib - small oval tinsel silver
    thorax - Ice Dub black
    hackle - hen dyed orange (see above)
    collar - pheasant rump dyed orange (2Tbs Rit Sunshine Orange, 1 cup water)


    Part 1

    mash barb, start thread at 50% mark; wrap to bend




    measure (gap width past bend) some guinea fibers; tie in/trim






    tie in tinsel at 50% mark, wrap to tail and back; tie off/trim






    tie in oval tinsel




    dub thread/dub thorax; leave an eye width up front for the hackles

    counterwrap rib; tie off/trim, rough it up a bit






    tie in (folded) hackle by tip; wrap, tie off/trim






    repeat with pheasant rump




    tie off/trim, whip finish, SHHAN

    Beautiful dyeing job on the pheasant. I especially like how the contrasts developed in the collar hackle. The half-pounders should really like this fly in Autumn.

    That'd be a great October fly on the Madison, maybe tied a size or two smaller to better "match" the October Caddis. (Not really enough October Caddis to make for good fishing around here in general, though the browns seem to like the pupae.)
