Thread: New material to me, finn racoon - fur marabou

Default New material to me, finn racoon - fur marabou

Below is a streamer, tied Hollow Fleye-style using finn raccon. I had never used this material before, I got a variety pack of colors at a state sale. Brand is Eumer - they label it as "fur marabou". Very soft and supple, even softer than arctic fox. It has an interesting blend of long and straight guardhairs with a pretty thick and long underfur. Pretty nice to work with and easy to blend colors like using deer hair or bucktail. The white portions of this fly are arctic fox, the mix of orange, yellow, and pink at the front is the finn raccon.

This fly has yet to hit the water so I don't know how it will swim and fish, but I like the way the material looks when tied onto the hook.

    Alberto,

That looks like a winner; will have to give some raccoon a try.
