    Default Pheasant Tail Brassie SBS




    Basics; good practice to restore muscle memory. Tailwater fodder in smaller sizes; weight is optional.


    hook ? Dai Riki 060 #12
    thread - Danville 6/0 rusty brown
    tail - pheasant tail
    abdomen - brassie wire copper
    thorax - peacock herl
    shellback/legs - pheasant tail


    Part 1

    mash barb, start thread at 60% mark; wrap to bend







    measure (gap width past bend) some pt fibers; tie in/trim










    tie in wire







    wrap wire forward (against pressure from bobbin to help keep wraps tight) to 60% mark; helicopter end/cover with thread










    measure (hook point to eye) anoth clump of pt; tie in at eye, wrap back to 60% mark










    tie in some peacock herl

    wrap to eye; tie off/trim







    pull shellback forward; tie down/trim (waxing the thread will help keep the cut ends from slipping out)







    divide legs







    tie down on either side, whip finish, SHHAN

    Got the foam Thursday, Scott. I will send some gold, "lemon ice," "moss green," and a couple packs of MFC's new foto-foam that will make great Carnages.

    The pattern looks a heck of a lot more "reasonable" than a Copper John, and will probably work identically.

    nice tie, as usual, but the thing that amazes me the most is your photography work. its been close to 50 years since I did close up work like yours, but it was all black and white.

    keep up the good work, excellent tying and photography.
