I bought one of those necks a year ago,and I have to admit,I dont use it much. The hackles are really sparse, and almost difficult to pick a single one out. I tye alot of General Practitioners, and vary the pattern to suit my taste. I picked up an orange Whiting neck, but after using it,I went back to Spirit river spey hackle[burned goose shoulder]and it is my favorite. Let me know if you want a sample of the neck,I'll cut it up for you so you can see if you like it. CJ

    John,

That would be great. I'd love to get my paws on some. Was hoping to tie up some salmon flies for this summer more speys then anything and get away from the typical monster waterholding flies which are a pain in the rear to cast.

My email is dawn-dan@gci.net if you wouldn't mind emailing me or posting and leaving yours.

    Thanks
    Dan

I've got a couple of the W. spey necks. I found that the bronze grade (though $ attractive) were pretty much worthless. Silver and gold grades seem to provide some pretty good spey hackle.
If you really want to try some neat spey hackle contact Ronn Lucas ( rlucas@cybcon.com ) . Ronn produces some custom dyed spey hackle that is really awesome. Check out his spey in the Atlantic area on FAOL
