This fly is tied on a Mustad 3366 hook because I'm not ready to use the few blind-eye hooks and silk-work gut I have. I need to get more gut before I start using those hooks. The shape of the 3366 matches up well with most Atlantic salmon fly hooks, shank could be a bit longer but works well as a practice hook. Here is the recipe:

Hook: Mustad 3366, size 1/0
Thread: White for the underbody, finish the fly with black
Tip: Silver oval tinsel
Tag: Red floss
Tail: Golden pheasant crest
Butt: Black ostrich herl
Body: Yellow floss
Rib: Silver oval tinsel
Body hackle: Yellow hackle, starting from the second turn of the rib
Throat hackle: Orange hackle
Wing: Orange goose shoulder
Cheeks: Blue chatterer substitute
Topping: Golden pheasant crest
Head: Black thread

Wing could be slightly longer. Ideally, I would like the tip of the wing to meet the topping and the tail.

Enjoy,

Alberto
