Default That Hoodoo That You Do TR (Some FF)

Originally planned to spend a few days camping around the wife's ancestral home; broadening the search for a place to drop the rig, found a neat looking spot just north of the border so off we went. The park encompasses/preserves land sacred to First Nations people; it would be a privilege to be able to spend some time there.

You may have seen him in Scott of the Sahara

First glimpse of the Sweetgrass Hills

Closing on West Butte (the north face will re-appear many times throughout the trip)

Badger was a bit too quick for a good shot

    Never did see any; bummer

Dropping off the prairie into the river valley and the hoodoos

Hot and dry for the next few days (we thought); kept the mosquitos down to a manageable level

Set up camp and headed out amongst the hoodoos.

Rock wrens; the outhouse is right outside the house

5 of these mouths to feed kept mom very busy

    Shuffling cards

    Petroglyphs

    And some more hoodoos

Last day brought a bit of a change, from mid 90's to 50's

On the way back, took a few hours to visit an old friend

Orange and purple foam things proved to be acceptable; 3 fish on the first 4 casts, although whenever a train went by, the bite shut down for about 10 minutes

Could have spent the rest of the day there; the wife had a good book to read and we had no commitments back in Stumptown, but my friend had been very generous and what else was there to prove?

    Regards,

Love your pictures and the adventure. What part of the State is this?

When I said "crossed the border" I meant The Border - it's in Alberta.
