I have found, through stream comparison on other Flies, that a bit of UV Pearl Dun dramatically increases the flies’ effectiveness So, am adding a bit to my soft Hackle fly.

    Byron -

I remember you put this fly on here awhile back and commented on its effectiveness.

Are you planning another trip to the Henry’s Fork, etc. again this year (if so, I suppose that time is at hand)? And, do you use this soft hackle fly there then?

    John,
Yes, have posted here, but before adding some UV Pearl ice dub,
Am headed for Henry’s Fork and Madison in late June. Over 30 years going there.
I have used this fly in the fast water in the middle of The Ranch just above the old broken down bridge mid-Ranch.

Luckily, at the time I go, I can use dry Flies which is my preferred method of fly fishing. But, this fly can also be fished as a dry and has worked as such representing a cripple

Flash catches fish. I think both versions will do the trick Byron.

Chuck, very good.....except abdomen and thorax are fluffed up Dazzleaire pieces via coffee bean grinder with a little ice dubbing worked in with fingers.

I use the smallest gold Mylar for ribbing. It is on a size 14 dry fly hook

I also tie one to look like a Western Green Drake for the Henry’s Fork.
