Can anyone recommend and tell me where I can find a foam dense enough to hold de-barbed flies? I have an idea I cold turn into a wet fly patch.
Thanks

Flip flops or the floor tiles they sell for children's play areas are possibilities.

Lots of luck in finding a foam that will actually retain a properly de-barbed hook. Even the slots that are cut into foam won't hold them very well, I usually find a few roaming around inside my fly boxes. A good magnetic base will hold them decently as long as they are not jarred too much. I will gladly put up with the 'problem' since they are so easy to remove from a fish for catch and release.

My vison has this foam glued to a small fly box lid that will be closed. I plan on drilling air holes in the box to dry the flies. That's my plan, anyway. Yep, de-baring hooks not only helps the fish, but they re also easier to get out of your body or shirt, ha.
Never had a problem with C&F boxes holding barbless hooks. Tend to favor compartment style boxes for dries. Supposedly the new silicone style boxes work quite well but I have not tried them myself.
I've given up on foam holders. Silicone now seems to be the best material. I bought a silicone bladed squeegee for the shower it also came with extra replacement blades. Guess what I'm using the extra blades for?
I have some yoga blocks of foam that is very dense. PM me your address and I'll send some to you to try out your idea.

The last two postings reminded me of something I saw online last week: Making silicone molds, it appears fairly easy to mold items from silicone at an afford cost using commonly available materials. Just Google it.
