    Allan,
Like me, you seem reasonable ..That's why we can't seem to understand WHY, but I'm tellin' ya, a "leftie" will screw up a regular pair of scissors faster'n we can say "spit"!!!
I think God created lefthanders to punish us righthanders!!

    tyeflies -

Although a left-handed person can use right-handed scissors, left-handed scissors are different in that the blades are reversed.

I would wager that the scissors you have are right-handed. You would have to make an effort to find/buy a left-handed pair.

We left-handers live in a right-handed world and usually just adapt. I have been using righ-handed scissors for so long, I would probably have to learn to use lefties.

I just had to chime in here. I have used right-handed scissors for so very long that now I cannot use left-handed ones. I have simply built up such a strong muscle memory for holding them to where they'll work that it precludes use of left-handed ones.

But I can bat with either a left or right-handed baseball bat.

How many of y'all have left handed folding pocket knives?

Kinda hijacked this thread. Lefthandedbrian, did you find those southpaw scissors?

Agree with the scissors issues. Also try using a small butter knife with your left hand - impossible! Also impossible, using your left hand to scrape a pot of chili with a right-handed ladle. It sure is a right- handed world.

    Another lefty.

Boy, Its good to know that there are so many lefties out there. Being one of them, this thread is really enjoyable to read.. been there, done that, being a southpaw also.
I write and use a fork righthanded, because my mother was of the "you shall be right handed" mind when I was growing up. Most everything else is left, except what I have taught myself to do with both. Scissors, leftys, do NOT work for me, the muscles have formed their memory so that only righthanded ones work in my lefthand, as stated before.

Then you get my youngest daughter, ambidextrious to the extreme!! Right, left, it doesn't matter at all. She is known for switching just to see if you are paying attention????

Why not try a pair of palming scissors? Fiskars makes a nice one that I use regularly. Being left handed myself I find that the construction of the scissors is moot when using a palming style. [url=http://www.fiskars.com:02843]www.fiskars.com[/url:02843]
