thread - MFC 8/0. light olive
tag/rib - brassie wire copper
tail - golden pheasant
body - peacock herl
hackle - hen grizzly
overwing - fox squirrel tail

Part 1

mash barb, start thread; tie in wire, wrap to point




counterwrap tag




measure (tips almost to rear of hook) some gp tippets; tie in/trim






tie in peacock herl; wrap to 1 eye width from eye (overshot by that half turn, which lead to the crowded, chubby head)






counterwrap rib, helicopter end, cover with thread

tie in (folded) hackle by tip; wrap, tie off/trim






measure (tips to tail) a clump of squirrel tail; trim to length, dose butts with Sally




tie in, whip finish, SHHAN

I think I've found part of my problem, when I mash the barb, start my thread and wrap to the hook point, my fly don't look nothing at all like yours … ?
