Doug Stewart's variation, designed for PNW stillwaters. His was tied with pheasant tail wing and tail; I prefer pheasant rump fiber tail and a single feather for the wing, for increased durability.
hook - Mustad 9671 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - pheasant rump fibers
body - yarn hot red (green optional)
hackle - partridge
wing - pheasant rump
Part 1
mash barb, start thread 1 eye width back from eye, wrap to bend
measure (shank length) a clump of pheasant rump fibers; tie in/trim
tie in yarn; wrap body, tie off/trim
tie in (folded) hackle (tips should reach hook point); wrap, tie off/trim
stroke fibers down/back, cover with thread
